Warren Hayes
I am pleased to announce the formation of The Warren W. Hayes ’54 Sponsorship & Scholarship Fund. This fund has been established to meet the pressing financial needs facing many Central Catholic families.
A portion of the money raised will be applied directly to the tuition of students whose families are facing unforeseen financial difficulties. This mid-year tuition relief will ensure that these students can stay enrolled and complete their high school education as members of the Central Catholic family.
In addition, a portion of the money raised will be placed into an endowment fund to provide scholarships for perpetuity, making it possible for students from diverse backgrounds to attend Central Catholic, including those from middle class families struggling to make ends meet – families who are unable to bear the full cost of tuition.
The genesis of this important initiative is rooted in the story of two classmates who are friends and proud sons of Central Catholic High School: Warren W. Hayes, a pillar of Central Catholic history, and William H. Hearne, the leading sponsor of this new program.
Graduates of the class of 1954, they went on to college, served in the Army, and embarked on successful careers, one as a distinguished teacher at their alma mater and one as an accomplished businessman. Both men married, serving as each other’s best man, and became loving husbands and fathers.
This story, in its general terms, is not unique to these two men. We are all indebted to Central Catholic for what the school has given us. Warren and Bill deeply appreciate the importance of their Central Catholic education and the impact it has had and continues to have on their lives.
Join me, and them, in giving back to Central Catholic so that today’s and tomorrow’s students can fulfill their potential. Review the enclosed information and make a gift to The Warren W. Hayes ’54 Sponsorship & Scholarship Fund.
Sincerely,

Br. Thomas P. Long, FMS, '73
